I am a seasoned player and teacher with vast amounts of experience. On top of private 1-1 lessons, I was the head guitar tutor at The Academy of Music and Sound from 2015 – 2023. I taught large classes of HNC and HND students as well as students working on the BA courses. Working at the college also allowed me to teach other classes such as music theory and live performance.
My private tuition business is now my main focus. With the addition of a 2nd studio I am very excited to see where the business goes!I am a frequent performer playing many live shows a year. I have toured extensively and been part of a band that achieved success within the industry.
As well as working on original material, I have been a session guitarist for shows such as the Blues Brothers, Rat Pack, Chuck Berry Tribute and Frankie Valli Tribute.

Fantastic guitar tutor.
Michael has been teaching my young son for around 9 months. The 1 to 1 lessons have an excellent balance between learning new techniques, working on the Rock School grade books and jamming. At the heart of it all is instilling good playing technique in a really enjoyable way. After each lesson we leave having learned something new to practice and improve on at home to bring back the following week. Michael has also introduced us to new styles of music and broadened my sons interest. Thoroughly recommend!

My son has been going to Michael for electric guitar lessons for a couple of years. He really enjoys the lessons, specially as Michael lets him choose the music he wants to learn or improve on, but also teaches him good technique. My son says Michael is fun and friendly. Highly recommended! Michael has been teaching my son from beginner level and I have been really impressed with the progress. Michael has a really good teaching style, communicates well and makes sure the technique is sound. Mixing the theory with favourite tunes keeps the enthusiasm up too! Best guitar teacher I've ever had! Started lessons with Michael just over a year ago and my playing has improved significantly. He is always encouraging and explains everything clearly, allowing me to work at my own pace. Lessons are fun and interesting, tailored to suit whichever direction I want to go in. I have no hesitation in giving Michael a 5 star review. An excellent guitar tutor who shows endless patience and lots of encouragement. I started lessons with him 6 months ago as a complete beginner. Thanks to Michael’s knowledge and teaching methods I am amazed at how much progress I have made already. He also makes every lesson a lot of fun. Such a nice guy who is very reliable and so accommodating.
